Anywhere with water and nowhere I have to be.

If you had a free round-trip ticket to anywhere, where would you go?

Maybe a small town on the coast of Portugal, or a quiet Greek island where the wifi is bad on purpose. Somewhere the days are shaped by the market and the light, not by a calendar.

Why there? Because I’ve spent a lot of years proving I can stay and work and be responsible. A free ticket feels like permission to practice the other part—leaving without running. Coming back because I want to, not because I’m afraid of what happens if I don’t.

With who? With the person who makes ordinary Tuesdays feel like enough. We’d split the map. He’d pick the long lunches. I’d pick the empty beaches. We’d argue about nothing and fall asleep to the sound of water we don’t have to own.

How long? Ten days. Long enough to stop checking the time. Short enough that coming home still feels like a choice instead of a landing. I’d want to miss our bed a little. Miss the coffee mugs. Miss the life that waits because we built it on purpose.

The ticket is free. The point isn’t the place. It’s the reminder that I’m allowed to leave and I’m allowed to return. That staying is a choice I get to make, not a sentence.

Salt in the air. Coffee in the hand. And a return date I’m actually looking forward to.
